Sewing!
For Christmas, my parents gave me a sewing machine (and yes, I did ask for it). While my sister was visiting me one weekend, we had decided we wanted to do a craft weekend. So, we went to the lovely Banner Crafts store in a nearby town, bought fabrics to make an apron, bought fleece to make a tie-blanket and had also gone to a local St. Vincent Du Paul's for some glassware to make candles.
And, we did all 3 projects. We made the tie-blanket first, because it was by far the easiest project. Then, we made the candles and they turned out fantastic. We did 3 separate bashes, mint green candles in low custard glasses, and then blue and purple candles in sundae glasses. At this point, we were tired of being crafty and lazed around for the rest of the night. But, the next day, we got up bright and early and immediately started working on the aprons. And they turned out awesome! Imagine a bright red poppy print, with black gingham straps, and 3 alternating ruffles to make it look extra cute! The lucky recipients of these aprons were our mother and our younger sister.
Well, being so crafty with my sister inspired me to do more things. To date, I have made a beaded ladybug, beaded letters, two beaded flowers, a babydoll top that I smocked myself, and I am gearing myself up to try applique for a pillow.
So, I apologize for not being more frequent in posting, but I am just having so much fun trying all different sorts of projects, that I haven't read too many books lately. But I have some good ones at home, so I will try to get some more reviews up soon!
