Fallen

by Lauren Kate

I only found this book 'OK'. Yes, I stayed up late trying to finish the book all in one sitting, but by the time I finished it, I was not hooked enough to want to read the 2nd book in the series. I liked the book, I liked the plot-line. But, I do not know if it is worthy enough to have a sequel. I would have preferred it if the story would have just been written in 1 novel. There are so many other series out there that I am hooked on, that this book just pales in comparison. So, needless to say, I probably will not read the 2nd book in this series.

However, like I said, I still liked the book. I didn’t love, love it, but I did like it. For as long as she can remember, Luce has seen the shadows. When she was younger and didn’t know better, she told her parents about the shadows. This led to many years of therapy and psychiatric drugs. Until Luce knew that the only way to live a normal life, was to lie to her parents and the doctors about the shadows- she told them she no longer saw them, and they believed her. And so, for a couple of years, Luce’s life was great. She had a best friend, went to a great school, and was thinking that soon she might have a boyfriend. But then something terrible happened. And Luce doesn’t know how it happened- she has no idea how the fire started or how Trevor died. This tragedy lands Luce in a reform school, where she is surrounded by troubled students and some mysterious teenagers. Like Daniel Grigori. Daniel makes it very clear that he does not want Luce around him, but every time she feels really low, really depressed, Daniel is there to help her. Why is it that at one moment, Daniel pushes her away, and the next he is trying to save her? And then there is Cam. Who seems to go out of his way to try to win Luce over- to make her his girlfriend. So, what is so special about Luce that Daniel and Cam fight over her? And why do the shadows keep coming, getting darker and more violent? What exactly is Daniel? And Gabbe? And Cam? Luce better find out soon, because if she doesn’t, it may mean the end of things- of her, of the world, of Heaven.
