Little Ballet Star by Adele Geras
Tilly's birthday is today and as a present, she is going to see the ballet Sleeping Beauty. Her aunt Gina is a ballerina- so she brings Tilly backstage before the ballet begins. Once backstage, Tilly gets to put on her ballet shoes, a fairy costume and twirl around on the stage with her aunt. When the ballet is about to start, Tilly rejoins her mom in the audience to watch the show. Tilly is so excited at the end of the show, that she claps extra hard. When it is finally time to go home, Tilly is so exhausted by her exciting day, that she falls asleep in her parents' arms.
This is a beautiful story with fabulous, brilliant-colored illustrations- perfect for any little girl. Very appropriate for the 4-10 year old range. For a older audience, To Dance: a ballerina's graphic novel by Siena Cherson Siegel is a nice, short book.
